Kolsch Starter - Monday, March 11, 2024

Make a 1.5 L starter with 126 grams of DME. When done, remove 500 ml to save for an over build. The over build will be around 42 days old when you make another Kolsch sometime during the last week of April. On stir plate around 1pm. i didn't check it after supper. Looks like it foamed up to the unsanitized foil and over a bit. Infection? Maybe. Jesus, should of left a note. Next time use your 5 L flask. I will never know if it is infected because it smells anyway. Here we go again... I ended up with 600 ml in the small flask. I have to figure out later when I use the over build to measure the slurry. Looks like around 20 - 30 ml. Fine. I can build that up with my 3 flasks. It must of done

something because this brew didn't turn out that great.
