Storey Steamer - Friday June 23, 2017

11 Gallons A new style of beer for me. Unfortunately my California yeast was dead on arrival, so I am using my slurry from my lager. I will buy some Wyeast 2112 on a later date if I like this and want to brew an authentic steam beer. 22 lbs. UCM 2 row 1 lb. Carastan 1 lb. Victory No roast malt as Peterborough doesn't stock it. Still a cow town. 70 g Northern Brewer - 8.5% AA @ 60 min. 77 g Northern Brewer - 8.5% AA @ 15 min. 80 g Northern Brewer - 8.5% AA @ 1 min. ( This puts me at exactly 8 ozs. of NB hops ) Slurry of WLP833 German Bock - 2nd generation pitched on June 24 @ 7:30 am 100% RO water with brewing salts - Yellow Balanced NB hops are US hops. Lucky to get them as all I can get now and next year is German NB. I do use US hops for aroma hops, so it really doesn't matter. There is no difference between the yellow balanced water profile and amber balanced. I don't get it. O.G. - 1.052 F.G. -  1.014 % -      5 BU ...
