Brewing a lager using the last of my Spalt hops. I hope this beer doesn't taste like my Pub Ale as it has an odd taste which I don't like. Brewed 2 Blonde Ales and they both tasted the same. Not sure why. Ingredients 22 lbs. UCM 1 lb. Vienna 1 lb. Munich I WLP833 German Bock 200g Spalt - 60 min 55 g Spalt - 20 min 30 g Spalt - 10 min 30 g Spalt - 5 min (Spalt - 2.2% AA) CA - 53 S04 - 93 CI - 63 PH - 5.35 3.2 ml Lactic Acid in mash only Water Profile is a German Pilsner O.G. - 1.048 F.G. - % - SRM - 4.5 BU - 29 MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH COOLING DOWN THE WORT. LATER... Finally pitched the yeast on Sunday @ 7 am. Smelled the wort and I didn't like what I smelled. I don't think it was because of the delay in adding the yeast. It was the same smell that my Pub Ale had using these 2 1/2 year old Spalt hops. The smell was more intense because I used 314 grams of them.
