House Dust IPA - Thursday, April 21, 2022 - ( Mr. Robobrew )

Still using up my hops I bought a year ago. Getting there, although, I do like the style but you use a ton of hops to make this. I ran out of Chinook. The one that was inside had Tettnanger in it. Good, now I can make a Kolsch after this one.

                                                                Brew Day

Mashing at 150 F. Not using my big sparge tank as the 2 gallon mark is below the element. Heating the sparge in my pot on the stove. Not an issue. Threw my back out, so this is a very painful brewday.

                                      PITCHED YEAST AT 12:30 AM

                                        FERMENTATION NOTES

Day 1 - No activity but it is too early. Hopefully if all is well, sometime in the afternoon.

Day 4 - Seems to be done, Jesus... Turned off temp controller. I guess I can move it to the bench

to make room for my fake Kolsch on April 26.

Day 8 - Temp 60 F in fridge with my Kolsch. Moved it to the bench to warm up a bit to finish.

It quit in like 3 days and darkened up. You can see how everything dropped out. This has to

finish dry just the way I like it. At least 1.008. I haven't checked any of my beers for a FG

using Nottingham yet. I am not kegging these beers now even though they seem to be

finishing early. Kegged on day 13.

                                                        KEGGED ON MAY 5

I never got the chance to taste it as again, I moved the racking cane near the bottom of the carboy and moved all of the trub around which there was a ton of. It was near the top anyway. Smelled great though if you like hops. Not impressed with this at all. Will toss in some gelatin and see what it is like after it clears. Will make a different recipe later in the year.

SAMPLE A FEW DAYS AFTER GELATIN

Seems to be okay. Good bitterness with a medium hop aroma. Better than most so far. I hope the hop aroma doesn't fade as it seems to do a lot.
