BREW NOTES
Brew Day - Good brew day except for one thing. Please stop putting the temp
probe into the blow off hose port. Duh!!!
Day 1 - Very active the next morning.
Day 2 - Bung blew out this morning and made a mess. I used a blow off hose and it wasn't
plugged so it must of been just too active. 68 F.
Day 3 - Settled down to normal. This and the Pub Ale are in the fridge side by side. The Pub
Ale is starting to darken near the top, so it is done. I will let the other one do that and keg
them either before we go to the cottage or when we come back. No hurry as I will have
2 kegs of Kolsch on tap. Keg this around October 16 or so. Late kegging this as we are
dog sitting.
ADDED GELATIN ON OCT. 17
Checked for clarity and no change, same as the last one. Taste is funny too. I may filter if I feel I can make an improvement in taste, but I am not hopeful. I assume it was this yeast that doesn't ferment some malto something or other. Tossed the yeast out and it is another bad purchase. I am sticking to lagers and ipa's until I use up my Citra hops and that will be it for that style. Lagers for now on which I am good at fermenting and I can make back to back brews using the same temperature.
DID NOT FILTER, CARBED UP ON OCT. 21.
NOT WORTH FILTERING, CRAP BEER
Sampled after carbing up. Same old stale taste I got with a few 2 - 3 years ago. No idea what
has caused it. Yup, it sucks alright.
