I am not sure how many more pilot brews I am going to do. Hell, they are all pilot brews. The higher I went with the sulphates, the worst the beer got. The very first one was kind of bland, but stayed good until the end of the keg. I can't say that for the previous 2 darker brews. If this sucks, I am going to make these beers with a SRM of 5 or lower. I have noticed that Mr. Robobrew beers seem to magnify the specialty malts compared to my big system. I guess I have to drastically lower the amount of specialty grains in future brews. Yea, but buy how much? I would say if the big system calls for 1 lb. of Munich, add 8 or 10 ozs. max.

                                                       BREW DAY NOTES

Done quicker than usual. Cooling almost done at 10 am even with a hop creep which lasted 20 min. Haven't tasted the hydrometer sample yet, curious to find out if the super Cascade hops added something. I do think I should of used 2 ozs. instead of 1. Very low hop aroma, but the BU was quite high.

                                             PITCHED YEAST AT 11 AM

Going good on Tuesday Sept. 1.

Day 3 - Same. I had to switch the thermowell to just a single hole bung. It was again leaking where the

thermowell meets the bung. Same thing with the lager. So, I need to drill another hole in a

bung and hope it seals better. These are old and well used. I should drill the hole a little smaller

in the future. The thermowell I bought here in Canada sucks. If I ever use it again, I will never

take it out of the bung.

Day 4 - Same. I assume that the reason for no blow off trub in the pot is the amount of no foam I used

in the boil and in the carboy before I added the cool wort. Fine, but if it lowers the head, I will

have to lower the amount I used. 5 drops in the boil and 4 in the carboy.

Day 5 - Added 3 ozs. of Chinook hops today. I didn't taste it, but I do think I needed it. The previous

one is very malty and lacking hop aroma.

Day 9 - Not much activity. Will let it sit for 5 days or so, then keg.

Day 10 - For reasons unknown, getting more active.

Day 13 - Kegged it.

KEGGING DAY - SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 13

Jury is still out on how this will taste in a week or so. Right now I am not impressed. Tastes a little odd with low bitterness and aroma. Next brew is way lighter and a ton more hops. Why not, this brew is low and I got lots of hops, so load em up!!! Gelatin added on Sept. 14.

                                                     TASTE ON SEPTEMBER 20

Again, way too malty, quite strong just like the last one. One more to go and if that is too strong, I will go with just a touch of C 40 and the rest will be 2 row. Now it is getting more cloying and way stronger for some reason. Do not like this at all. Dumping it soon.
