I didn't get a lot of bitterness in the wort sample. Not sure why though, as magnum is a strong hop. At least the hop stopper wasn't plugged this time as I am using city water ( 25% ) instead of my well water. 27 hours have gone by and I am only getting a small sign of activity in one carboy. The other one is doing nothing. I just split the starter wort in half and dumped it in. Who knows how much I got? Hard to tell. 61 F is the temp on the side of the fermenter. My old notes say this is a slow starter. It took around 35 hours to get going and the beer kind of sucked. Hmmm, if this sucks I won't use 1007 again. I am going to filter this beer to see how it goes. I will toss in gelatin, wait a few days, transfer to another keg and filter it to see the results. Hopefully I won't get a lot of foam because it will be very cold beer. I need to get a longer hose so I can drain it back in the keg instead of a pail. Gelatin didn't do much to clear this beer. I am right now going to filter the last keg to see if it works. Not sure what grade of filter to use though, 1 or 2? It did not work. Just as hazy after using #2 filter. That sucks. I just have to get it to clear with gelatin first. But why did my Helles turn out very clear after filtering? The yeast worked out fine. I just wish I didn't add the late hops to this beer. Too much of a good thing I guess.
