The first batch stopped draining into the carboys with only about 3 - 4 gallons in each one. I tried to scoop some out with a cup, but it was taking too long and I had to get going with the 2nd batch. No idea why this happened. I saw a ton of trub on the hopstopper though, but I always do. Wort was very clear so it was doing a fine job of filtering the wort. However, it just stopped. The second batch was normal. This was a very long day and I will never do a double batch again. Big mess. I sprinkled the US-05 on top because I was too tired to rehydrate. It has been 15 hours now and nothing yet. Also on the first batch, I left the valve open on the mash tun and it sucked back into the sparge tank which had around 2 gallons of sparge water in it. Now I have diluted wort. I just used a beer pitcher and added it to the kettle. This has happened before, so I need to write this down with my other brew day itinerary. If this was diluted, why is my gravity 1.056? It should of been around 1.040. Double brew day - NEVER AGAIN. Maybe I say never a double brewday again, but I sure needed it. At least I can brew my Kolsch and Helles and let them ferment fully. I still need to brew more beer if I can squeeze it in somehow. May be low on hops too.
