English Style Ale
13 Gallons ( Post Boil )
23.5 lbs. Canada Malt
1 lb. Carastan Malt
.97 lbs. Crystal 120
.81 lbs. wheat malt
.31 lbs. Acid Malt
110 grams EKG ( 60 min )
50 g S-04 rehydrated with RO water. ( RO water didn't harm the yeast viability at all )
RO water with brewing salts
2 tsp gypsum to mash and boil
2 tsp calcium chloride to mash and boil
1 tsp of epsom salt to mash and boil
CA - 110
MG - 12
CI - 127
S04 - 162
Chloride/Sulphate Ratio - .79 ( balanced according to EZY water calculator)
FTBS
O.G. - 1.060
F.G. - 1.012
% - 6.3
BU - 29
SRM - 9.5
90% mash efficiency.
A nice and malty beer. No harsh or astrigent flavours at all. Kind of bready with the S-04 yeast, but this brew was a success using salts for the first time.
