Cavan Cream Ale
I haven't brewed a Cream Ale in over 8 years. I think it is about time. I used 25% flaked corn then. Today I used 15% flaked corn. I still have enough for another batch. This is a first using Wyeast 2565 Kolsch yeast. My ferment temp is 60F. Should be clean, but is hard to clear. I have time. The gravity is low to meet the amount of yeast I had on hand and age of the yeast.
14 Gallons
17 lbs. Canada Malt 2-row.
3 lbs. Flaked corn.
60 grams Hallertauer - 60 min.
2 pkgs. Wyeast 2565 Kolsch ( 2 - 2L starters )
O.G. - 1.040
F.G. - 1.014
% - 3.4
BU - 16
SRM - 3
This is a good lawnmower beer for the summer. The slight corn flavour adds a nice touch to it. Now that I have a few cases ahead, time to make some real beer.
